Cougar tells us about the cool tattoo she recently got: "My tattoo is partly about Melissa. I admire how she lives her life. She inspires me. It is also about how I choose to live my life. Be Strong, Speak True works well for me."

Ashley writes:
"My name is Ashley and I am 22 years old living in
Houston, Texas.
Out of
the 11 tattoos that I have, this is one of my favorites."

Evan sent me this awesome picture! Thank you!
She writes: "To me, my tattoo is an icon of my survival. I have survived a lot of things that I shouldn't have had to, same as most people, but Melissa Etheridge seemed to tap into those hardships and make them into music, and somehow, make it so she was singing right to me. Her "Yes, I Am" album was with me when I was still figuring out who I was! But when I did, I was able to say with confidence, "YES I AM!" So, I tattooed it on my arm as a thank you to the most inspiring musician I have ever come across, as well as a mark of my survival in this world, and Melissa's."

Mindy from Wyoming has this cool tattoo. Thanks for sharing, Mindy! :-)

Here's Kat's tattoo. She's from Nova Scotia, Canada:
She writes: "Today, I got the attached tattoo to celebrate my 40th birthday coming up in two weeks; I have always been one to be strong, speak true, and always try to spread the peace and Melissa Etheridge has SO inspired me in my life, especially as I hit this milestone of 40 years of age. I live life to the fullest and feel that each year brings me more knowledge about where I'm going in this world and what my purpose is and life only gets better and better for me as each year passes. Thank you to Melissa for being my hero, OUR hero...keep rockin' girl! We love you."

Steffi from Jüterbog, Germany tells us all about her new tattoo:
I like to show you my new tattoo....
The tattoo is on my right upper arm and it was made on 23.01.07.
I dreamed of that tattoo for so many years..... I love Melissa and
her great voice, her songs mean so much to me and helped thru so many
situations in my life over ..... I think the last 17 years. I´m sorry that
my english is not so perfect. Hope you understand my words *g*.
I found your page on my search thru the internet and it
inspired me to get this tattoo, but it takes 3 years to get it. Now I´m so
glad and proud that anyone (in summer time*g*) can see that I´m a true
Melissa Etheridge fan. Most people here don´t know the meaning of this sign
and my friends ask me: what´s this.... what does it mean? And I tell them
what it means for me.....
I´m also proud that you put this pic on your webside. Thank you very much.
Greetings from
Germany.
Sincerely Steffi

Debbie from California tells us: "I am a huge fan of Melissa’s. I was looking at your web page prior to getting my tattoo. So I have created my own from some that I have seen here… I really liked the LUCKY in the rainbow colors, but decided to go with Red due to the “RAINBOW PRIDE”. I absolutely adore Melissa and her music. Her music is part of my soul! She is an awesome and very talented musician. I hope to meet her someday!"

Tracey (who calls
herself Melissa's #1 fan
) writes:
"Hi, Here is my Tattoo. I am a huge MLE fan, and this
represents my love for Melissa and support for Breast Cancer."

Karen and Andrea are one of my favorite finds during Melissa's Summer Tour 2006. These two wonderful Aussies rock like no other! :-) We had an absolute blast during the So Cal Travel Package (29 June - 1 July). I will never forget it or them!
She sent the *gang* a message showing off her new tattoo: "Hi All, I finally have it, the Tattoo I have been waiting for, to commemorate my trip to the USA to meet and see my hero Melissa Lou Etheridge. This is a permanent reminder of my trip of lifetime which also includes meeting all of you and having the best time ever."
Karen also has this cool tattoo:

Jen's tattoo: "My lucky tattoo its right below my neck!! I love her music she is such an inspiration to me. My mom got diagnosed with colon cancer a year ago and after playing Melissa's songs for her she wants "This is not good bye" and "Talking to my angel" played at her funeral when she leaves us. But as we speak she is doing very well. Thanks for posting my Picture. Love Jen"

Brandy from Seattle: "This was my very first tattoo when I was 18! It is on the side of my calf. I get so many good comments on it!"

Kel's tattoo:

ML's tattoo(s):

Jib's tattoo:

Crista says, "I love my Melissa tattoo.I'm so proud to wear her on my arm.I am waiting to do one on the other arm with her short hair. She is my idol."

Nikki allowed me to take a pic of her shoulder tattoo, even though I was *stalking* her at the mall in Orlando... tee hee... (Thanks Nikki!). Click on it for the full size version:
"The
Melissa tattoo was when I was 21. I was 16 when I came out, but I was always
not so proud & didn't like to express to a lot of people who I really
was... I sort of picked & choose who I talked to about my personal life.
Well when the "yes I am" cd came out & it was right about
the time Melissa came out to the world. It was just such an inspiration to
me that she was so brave to come out the way she did & was not ashamed
of who she was. So I said you know what YES I AM TOO... & there you have
it!"

Peggy from the Netherlands wanted to share her very first tattoo with us all! KEWL!!! :-)
"......YES I TOO ADORE MELISSA....."

I saw this tattoo on a nice fan who I met in Houston and thought it was pretty neat... she explained it all to me. You can click on the picture to read about it:

A fan I met in Dallas let me take a photo of her tattoo :-)

Sandi has this neat tattoo on her forearm:

Holly from Plymouth, Michigan has this very cool portrait of Melissa...
...plus a couple more tattoos :-)
"I did her quote on my arm underneath her portrait to symbolize breast cancer awareness"
"The autograph is across my heart because Melissa is in my heart and soul everyday"
"And at last the guitar because truly I'm an All American Girl through and through"
"Thanks again and I hope all the other fans will enjoy these as much as I do."
"I also would like some feedback from some devoted fans." (e-mail Holly!)

Pat from Minnesota shows her Melissa pride:

Cheryl has this cool tattoo...
"The MLE key logo is on my lower back and I got that one on June 7th, 2003. It was an early birthday present to myself."
...and this other one that's not Melissa, but it's very cool anyway! ;-)
"The two women symbols I just got recently, June 26, 2005. The amazing thing is that I didn't even know it was PRIDE week in Chicago when I went to the parlor on Belmont street. That made my tattoo even more special."

Well, Mel (from Queensland, Australia) now has 5 -count them!- FIVE Melissa tattoos :-) Here is her latest one. Wow, very very cool! She got the signature from Artists For Aids:
This one is nice! Whew, talk about being Brave and Crazy! :-)
"The Yes I Am symbol on my lower back - got that when I was 18."
"I also have her portrait on my right shoulder blade - got that when I was 19."
"And I got Melissa's lucky stars on my right inner forearm recently."

Melanie from Hamburg, Germany - "The tattoo is on my right upper arm. It looks like beams of light around the symbol. Like some holy thing."

Kris writes:
Melissa's
music has been very important to me ever since 1993 when I came 'out'.
I listened to her music and couldn't believe how powerful her voice was. The
more I learned about her,the more impressed I became almost thinking of her
as
my hero..But the skeptic I am, I'm thinking, it's Hollywood! It's all about
the
$$$. Could she really be that REAL,that TRUE!!!
I still bought all her music and followed everything about her but I don't
know
if I completely believed the ad, if you know what I mean. Then 11 years
later,
I get a book in the mail that I bought on eBay. The Truth is.....My life in
Love and Music, so I sit down and start reading ,and reading......next thing
I
know I've read the whole book. I can honestly say I have never enjoyed a
book
as much as I did that one. I laughed. I cried. When I put that book down I
didn't know what to think...WOW,that woman rocks!!!!! All this time she WAS
real.
I decided right then I wanted to tribute her some how. More than the pics on
my
wall or the cd's in my truck. Something personal from me to show the world
(I
know this is going to sound corny) Melissa Etheridge IS my HERO and I'm
proud
of who I am!!!
4 little words :BE STRONG, SPEAK TRUE. If we all lived by those words we
would
be in a much better state

Angel from Holland - "Here is my tattoo between my thumb and point finger"

Julie, a 19 year old fan from NJ... how cool is this tattoo? :-)

Steffi from Duisburg, Germany

Beth from Florida

I have the same white Skin tattoo as Melissa, in the same place. It represents a lot to me. Turning 40, and being comfortable in your own skin, and starting your life over, with everything new. Melissa represents everything good, positive, and enduring to me. She's the person I look up to the most. BTW, my tat never faded like hers...
As for my other passion, Aerosmith. I have Steven Tyler's autograph tattoed above my belly button, in the middle. What can I say, met him in the back, (gate) had nothing to sign, so he made his own paper with my skin, after ripping open my button down shirt. What a lifetime moment!

tabmonster from Southern California
tab got this tattoo in Hawaii

An Aboriginal (Native American) Jocker Necklace with the pendant of Melissa Etheridge Logo. I still have the colors to add to the jocker. Also the eagle feathers hanging off the necklace for two deaths I have faced in my immediate family. I am 1/4 Native American so this represents who I am, and Melissa Logo represents the music I love till the end and me being a recent coming out lesbian.
