They say there are angels all around us.  A lot of times these angels are not winged or have halos... they are our friends.

As you'll read in this great story, being an angel has its rewards... :-)  I'm very happy for Ginger and Beth to have been able to make a dream come true!

Beth writes:  I have the same white Skin tattoo as Melissa, in the same place. It represents a lot to me. Turning 40, and being comfortable in your own skin, and starting your life over, with everything new. Melissa represents everything good, positive, and enduring to me. She's the person I look up to the most.

I worked with Ginger at a hospital, and didn't really know her very well, except for the music she likes. When she said she liked Etheridge, as she calls her, I instantly liked her. She had all of her CDs, but had never seen her live.  When she got sick the first time a couple of years ago with lung cancer, I wanted to contact The Dream Foundation to try to arrange for her to meet Melissa.  It seemed complicated, and she got better, so I didn't do it. This year she had a seizure at work, and the cancer's spread to her brain. I took her to see another favorite of hers, the blues singer/guitarist, Susan Tedeschi, and tried to arrange through her management for Ginger to meet her. That didn't come through, and at the concert Susan was standing around outside, so I got her to sign Ginger's ticket.  I told Ginger about Melissa coming to Orlando, and she asked me to go with her, and bought my ticket.

A week before the show I posted a thread on the M.E.I.N. board for people to pray for her to make it see Melissa. They had only given her weeks to live, and I wanted her to live to see Melissa. I just had this strange urge to post it. Everybody responded, and I got a pm from a stranger about contacting Melissa's management for her to meet her. I had thought of this, and figured it would be impossible, as big as Melissa is, but I did it, and they answered the next day! The Friday before I left to see her in Tampa, I found out in a week that we'd be meeting Melissa in Orlando! I couldn't believe these wonderful people. Ginger told me she'd drop dead right there.

In Orlando at the HOB, I picked up our backstage passes, and we met Melissa before the show. She walked over to Ginger first and spoke with her, and signed a pix and a CD. Then she spoke with me, and signed my pix. I gave her a black suede cuff bracelet with different colored jewels all over it. We all took a picture together, and it was the most perfect moment there ever was. Melissa is so gracious and kind. It was something I started out wanting for my friend, and turned into a lifetime memory for me too. I would've never thought in a million years this could happen, but thanks to some great people, it did, and it feels great that I was able to do something like that for someone. It showed me that when it's not all about you, that good things come back to you and that dreams can come true. Melissa said to enjoy the show, and Ginger truly did.

Here is the picture of  the three of us (me, with red eyes I forgot to eliminate) Ginger, and Melissa backstage:

Here's the one of my signed pix of Melissa, along with the box I gave her at the Tampa concert. She opened it, and said how very nice it is:

And here is the pix of the poster I made for the request she played at the Tampa show. She held up the poster for the audience to see, and everyone cheered. She liked the clouds and the pix of her, and said it was sweet how I made it:
