The Vanity Fair picture - November 2004 Issue
First, a little history about this picture :-) Rhondda first found a picture on the web on ProfessorBainbridge.com, of what looked like a photo shoot. We were all very curious about what Melissa was posing for...
Well, Camille and Rhondda didn't make us wait too long to find out :-)
As
posted by Rhondda on the Yahoo! Group:
"well, we got our answer about this photo at last night's Reno show.
before we all left work yesterday to catch our flights, Deb, Camille and i
emailed each other with ideas for signs for the show. i said that i wanted
to figure out a brief, clever way to ask MLE about the motorcycle picture.
Camille came up with a sign that said: "Motorcycle. Viper Room.
Explain" and included a little color picture of the photo.
we ended up rushing as soon as the show started so we were right up against
the stage dead center. after the first three songs or so, Deb and i held up
the sign for MLE. she laughed and took the sign from us. "What is it
with the internet? You guys know stuff before I do!"
MLE said that she was doing a photo shoot on the Harley for Vanity Fair. she
made funny faces pretending that she was posing on the bike. it was cute.
:-)
MLE brought the sign and showed it to Mark. Mark checked out the photo and
then brought it over to Kenny. Kenny cheked out the photo, too, and then
clipped it to his stand. we never got the sign back (not that we're
complaining <g>)."
And here is the end result... :-)

THE FABRIC OF SOCIETY NEEDS MORE LEATHER AND LESS POLYESTER -- Harley
Davidson is proud to salute women who rock the mainstream
Rock trailblazer Melissa Etheridge made a name for herself in the '80s by
combining fearless, straightforward lyrics with a movingly gritty voice that
stands alone in the world of female artists. Nearly two decades later, the
two-time Grammy winner is still shaking things up with her incomparable
shoot-from-the-hip style.
The indomitable Etheridge released her eighth studio album, Lucky, to
critical acclaim this past February; Lucky Live, a no-holds-barred DVD with
footage from her extraordinary 2004 tour was released this fall. Melissa was
photographed with the Softail "Springer" classic motorcycle at the
Viper Room on Sunset Boulevard.
