says: "Ok I am a geek. I scrapbook. I did this layout of my
experience at one of Melissa's concerts this past summer (Sayerville, NJ)
and how I met her and she used my cell during the concert.
On this page behind the tag that says 'autograph' is her autograph and if
you pull the thing out of the guitar pick pocket there is her guitar pick.
The journaling says:
Melissa Etheridge is my all time favorite musician. For her ‘Lucky’ Tour
in 2004, I waited outside for hours to get a good spot for the concert.
Because I was there so early, I got to see Melissa’s tour bus pull into
the parking lot. I went around to the back of the venue for a chance to meet
her. After several minutes, she came out of the bus and walked over to say
hello to the few of us who were waiting. Her life partner, Tammy Lynn
Michaels (TV star from Popular and L Word) also came over to say hello. When
Melissa was told that I hadn’t seen her in concert since 1994, she rubbed
my arm and said, “Ahh, I am much happier now.” I got her autograph on my
concert wristband. She’s the first star I’ve ever met in person!
Not only did I get to meet her, but I also ended up front row, center stage,
for the concert. I was elated! My elbows were literally resting on the stage
just inches from her for the entire concert. During one of her songs, the
words say, "If you want to, you can call me," and I held up my
cell phone singing along to the words. All of a sudden, she stopped the song
and came over and asked for my cell phone! I almost died as she scrolled
through the names in my list and called my sister, Stacey. I could’ve
killed Stacey for not answering! Then, she called my friend Peg, who didn't
answer either. She ended up leaving a message on Peg's voicemail. I
couldn’t believe no one answered her calls!! The whole experience was such
a thrill! I just couldn't believe it had happened to me! It felt like I was
in a dream. To top it all off, friends of mine were able to download the
concert from a bootleg on the internet, so I have the whole thing on CD
forever. I truly think this was the best night of my entire life!
Thanks Melissa!
