Set List - 07/29/06 Lowell Memorial Auditorium, Lowell, MA

we had a bit of a nightmare before the show. this weekend is also the Lowell Folk Festival, and many of the downtown streets were closed. we followed Cin and CA into town but the street leading to the garage that they parked in last night was blocked off. we ended up parking on the street over a mile away and had to haul ass to the venue amongst the crowds at the festival. we picked up our MEIN tix around 7:56 pm - just a little too close for comfort for me. i even bypassed my usual bathroom stop because i was worried that the show would start before i could make it to my seat.

we got a tour premiere and an extra song during the acoustic set but
the show really wasn't any longer than Friday night's due to the venue's
curfew.

Like the Way I Do
Talking to My Angel

just like last night, we rushed the stage once the lights went down.
in the crush, i got separated from Bitey and ended up behind Claudia and Cheryl 3 people back from the stage. i spotted Deb and Jules dead
center against the stage - right on, grrrls!

unfortunately, i was surrounded by loud chatters who treated the
concert like it was background music for their night of partying. very annoying! grrrrr...

luckily, Dunie, who was located against the stage about 2-3 people to Claudia's left, rescued me around CTMW/AWF and pulled me over behind her. my savior! :-D

Angie was located a couple of people away from me so rather than have our special I Need to Wake Up moment, she turned towards me and filmed me singing the chorus to her. ack, such pressure, babe! ;-)

in her intro to HWIK, MLE mentioned how the Breakdown album was like a message to herself: "GET OUT!" LOL...

when it came time to do the acoustic song after HWIK, MLE mentioned
that someone over to our left had been holding up signs for a request the past 2 nights so she was going to do 2 acoustic songs rather than 1. score!

at some point in the 3rd set, Dunie asked me to slip in against the
stage on her right because the woman to her right was bugging the crap out of her. she slid to her left closer to Jen, and i was able to stand
sideways against the stage. cool!

for BMSW, MLE stood behind Philip and played his guitar for the solo
(she's done this a few times this tour). as he stepped away post-solo, she said to him, "you can play my guitar, too." Philip stood behind her and returned the favor as MLE posed. OMG, it was HOT!!!

MLE included an abbreviated and speeded up version of the "feed my dog" story for the past 2 nights. before the story last night, Dunie wrote, "Scream here, please?" on her white board and held it up about midway through the song. MLE saw it and giggled. i whispered to Dunie, "she probably won't do it as she always does the scream front center stage." hah, was i ever wrong! as she started creeping closer to our area leading up to the crescendo, i said to Dunie, "Oh, my God, I think she's going to do it!", and sure enough, she made a beeline to our area and just let loose about six inches from us. OK, now it was *my* turn to go bat shit crazy. MLE grinned at us and soaked up the adulation from the entire auditorium. i high fived Dunie and told her "that was fucking awesome!!"

i think it pays to advertise. ;-)

i don't know how she does it but MLE keeps stepping it up a notch every single night. how much higher can she go? i don't know the answer to that question, but regardless i'm glad i'm tagging along for the ride.

onto night 3...

*rhondda*

p.s. nice to meet you, Audrey! :-)
