A song written by 17 year old fan Colleen after finding out about Melissa's breast cancer (scroll down):
The day can dawn to our own
surprise
In a light that falls onto our lives disguised
We are all fated by some stroke of chance
Somehow God picks and chooses
Whose strength will be put to the test
Today someone will be tried and someone will be blessed
The hardest battle to survive exists
In being betrayed by your body’s own kiss
You battle a stranger your eyes cannot see
There is nowhere for a woman to hide
Today she’ll stand tall and claim her pride
With head held high she’ll make her stride
This fight belongs to one woman in eight
Of all shapes and sizes, of all colors and age
But if support grows from love to strengthen the faith
We’ll win and we’ll conquer
Of success we will drink
Rock the cause
Support the PINK
"I went to Melissa's concert last year at the IVES CENTER in Danbury Ct. IT POURED for 3 hours...and she played the whole time despite it. I had never really been a die hard fan before but after the concert...I'd become one. I love music more than anything and Melissa is an inspiration to me, as a 17 year old girl, in more ways than one and I'll be wearing my pink bracelet when I go to her first concert venue when she returns next year. This is a song I wrote about Breast Cancer after I found out I couldn't see her on the 15th at City Center"
