I know Melissa very rarely reads the board, but I do think that Tammy does occasionally. So Tammy, if you're reading this, please pass along this message. 

My 5 year-old daughter and I were the first ones to arrive at the unveiling ceremony yesterday, and boy did that pay off. We were right up front, and just on a whim, I brought my guitar along.....because you never know, ya know? 

After Melissa was done speaking to and thanking the crowd and the people of Leavenworth, she began to sign autographs. I asked her if she had time to sign my guitar, and she said "I only have about one minute left, and I don't know where your guitar is". I said it was in my truck, and ran my butt over there, whipped it out of the case and ran back with it. 

I squeezed back to my spot, and just stood there and waited for her to get to me. Which she did, saying "Oh, cool!" when she saw my guitar....which I have to admit, it is a pretty awesome looking guitar....a purple Fender Strat with a white pearloid pickguard. And now it looks even better, because it has Melissa's signature on it! 

But truthfully, it's given me some problems, and I have thought of selling it......NOT NOW! I'll pay to have the kinks worked out of it! Please thank her immensely for me, it meant more than the average joe could possibly know for me to have my favorite performer sign my guitar.

It is because of her that I took up guitar. I always wanted to play as a kid, but we couldn't afford a guitar, let alone lessons. When I got older, I asked my now ex-husband, who could play by ear, to teach me, but he wouldn't. I finally got hungry enough (because of Melissa and her music) to buy myself a guitar. It took me a year after I bought it to sign up for lessons. I was so afraid I'd suck at it, and then there would be a dream of mine shot down the tubes. So now I've been taking lessons for a little over two years, and the guitar Melissa signed is my first electric that I just bought at the beginning of the summer. 

She is such an inspiration, I love to watch her play. It is because of her that I'm determined to master this thing and play my heart out! Please tell her thanks for everything!
